Monte Hewett finished #176 out of 320 riders on Saturday to complete one of the world’s toughest mountain bike races. This was his first race of this caibur and finishing ahead of nearly half the riders is an amazing accomplishment. Way to go Monte!
Stage 4 of the race took the riders all the way to the Gulf coast of Costa Rica. Monte said in phone conversations with his wife, that the scenery was amazing. And from the looks of some of the official race photos (on the race website here) he is right! Some parts of the final stage required the riders to CARRY their bikes across a train trussle – see the photo below. Wow.
Everyone at Monte Hewett Homes is so proud of Monte, and we can’t wait to welcome him home this week.
